Musings on eating habits and weight loss

Recently I realised that over the past few years my weight has been gradually creeping up but it wasn’t until my husband and daughter had a giggle about the rolls of fat on my stomach that I decided to take the matter in hand!

Abundant food

Abundant food

As those of you who know me I am a bit of an imperfect health freak, with my main loves being green smoothies and juices and raw chocolate but will also indulge in any yummy food going!  So I surprised myself by deciding to join Weight Watchers and it has been such an eye opener.  Having to count the number of points I am allowed each day I began to notice my negative habits such as: picking at food while I am cooking; serving myself a large portion and when I have finished, serving myself another portion even if I am full, just because I like it; finishing off my daughter’s food so I don’t have to throw it away and at buffets going back for 2nds and 3rds, again with no disregard for what my body is telling me!  So I have been observing my habits and choosing different behaviour.  But I am curious to know what the driving forces are to creating those habits.  So I have started using EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques)/ Tapping to begin to uncover the underlying causes that created this behaviour.

I have been tapping in the moment with statements such as:

“Even though I really want another helping, I deeply and completely love and accept myself.”

“Even though I will feel deprived if I don’t have another portion, I deeply and completely love and accept myself.”

“Even though I can feel and emptiness that needs to be filled, I deeply and completely love and accept myself.”

And then asking myself questions such as:

When did this pattern start?
What was going on?
When did I feel this emptiness before?
How old?
Then tap on the memory arising, looking for beliefs created, tapping on those.

At the moment I am work in progress but watch this space…
