Last weekend I immersed myself in the energy of love by attending the Hay House I Can Do It Conference in London. From the moment I got there the message I got from the people I met and the speakers themselves was about loving yourself.
When I mentioned this to a friend recently she thought this idea was quite indulgent and egotistical. So I explained that what I meant was the kind of love that accepts yourself even when one makes mistakes or gets it wrong and that is compassionate and forgiving. Its about giving up beating yourself up and giving yourself a hard time about all the things that went wrong.
All the speakers were so inspiring and many spoke about self love.
Dr David Hamilton, who has written several books including “Why Kindness is Good for You” spoke about his year long journey of exploring self-love and told us about ease with which children love themselves including his little niece who has no problem at all with saying she loves herself and giving herself a big hug!
Robert Holden, author of many books including his latest, “Loveability” says you can choose between love and fear in every moment and suggests we make love our purpose. He says that the unconditioned self knows s/he is loved and lovable but the learned self may have the basic fear and question “Am I lovable?”. Luckily EFT/ Emotional Freedom Techniques/ Tapping can release beliefs created by the learned self. More about how to use EFT for self love in my next blog. Bruce Lipton talks about the science and biology behind the possibility of having a love affair with yourself and with life and experiencing heaven on earth. He says that it involves releasing the limiting programmes in our subconscious mind from childhood (and I thought immediately of EFT/ Emotional Freedom Techniques/ Tapping!!! Don Miguel Ruiz, famous for the book “The Four Agreements” and his son Don Jose Ruiz were in the UK for the first time and spoke about The Fifth Agreement based on Toltec Wisdom. Their message was to stop believing in the lies we tell ourselves, the biggest lie being “I am not perfect” and the true statement is “I am the love of my life”. They said that we are the artists of our life and we create our own story. When we change the main character of our story, which is us, everything around use changes like magic and creates a ripple affect.
Neal Donald Walsh, author of the “Conversation with God” books, says that 98% of people spend 98% of their time on things that don’t matter! His 3 tips for the day were:
1) Look at people in the eye (for more than a count of 3!)
2) Smile at them
3) Touch them
All this give the message of “I see you”
