My Favourite Reads of 2019

Here are four of my favourite books for 2019

I started the year as I meant to go on with The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying by Marie Kondo. I used it to inspire me to start clearing 15 years of clutter that has accumulated in our house since we moved here. She recommends starting with clothes, then books and then other items. Through the year I got through clothes, shoes, books and then cleared our garden shed. Next week, we are starting our spare room AKA room of shame! I’m looking forward to creating new energy in our home for 2020!

Next up is The 5 Love Languages by Gary Chapman. I received this book from a friend for my birthday. At first I wasn’t motivated to read but I really trust this friend’s opinion and was blown away by the content. So many incredible heart opening stories about couples who seemed beyond hope who found their own and their partner’s love language and were able to rekindle their love. It was interesting to explore my own love language and how it is different from my Peter’s. After reading the book, it make complete sense why I want to be loved through my love language of gifts whereas Peter loves me through his love language which is acts of service.

Throughout this year I have read four books by Graeme Simsion. All of them absolutely brilliant and hilarious. The reason I am choosing to mention Two Steps Forward here is because its about two people meet walking the Camino de Santiago pilgrim walk in Spain. I listened to it while my daughter was walking a section of the walk to celebrate the end of her exams. Reading this book, gave me a feel of what my daughter might be experiencing. So inspiring and motivated by her feedback, I then walked a section myself as well in October. This definitely was the highlight of my year, coming face to face with my deepest fears and overcoming them.

Lastly, The Untethered Soul by Michael Singer is a book I’ve just finished. This time last year I read The Surrender Experiment by the same author which was utterly amazing. I have intended to read his next book all year but it has taken me until now to be ready. It is an incredible read. He has a was of expressing and explaining concepts which I thought I understand but gave me so much more clarity about how the human mind ticks. These concepts dovetail so well with EFT and I would especially recommend this book to fellow EFTers. I think I will reread it as I feel that I will take in even more next time round!

I hope you enjoyed my reviews. I’d love to know what you recommend and why. Do share in the comments.
