The last couple of weeks in August can be fraught with anxiety for parents and their children who have taken GCSEs , A Levels or University exams as its the time when they get their exam results. For many students so much depends on these results – entry to sixth form, university or a job acceptance.
As parents we want our children to succeed and its so hard to watch if they don’t get the exam results they wanted. We want to be strong to support them with what they are going through and yet it can be hard if we ourselves are feeling disappointed with them. Maybe you feel they could have worked harder or maybe they worked so hard and just had a bad day. Maybe you too struggled with exams when you were at school so know how it feels. Sometimes kids at that age don’t want their parents support or advice which can make us feel helpless or powerless to watch our children suffer.
