If you do that one more time you’ll regret it

This is what I overheard a dad shout to his child while I was jogging – “If you do that one more time, you will regret it”.
I wonder if he would say that to someone his own age? I wonder if he would regret saying that to his child?
As a parent, we are the ones in control – we are the adults!
I don’t want to sound judgemental and I know being a parent often involves our buttons being pushed to the limit, losing our patience and saying or doing things we regret….and then feeling guilty about it.

If you do that one more timeparenting guiltGuilt is one of the strongest emotions we feel as mothers and the whole family can suffer as a result.

But what was that child I saw feeling?
How will her behaviour change as a result of this experience (and probably others that are similar) as she grows up?
How will it affect the way she feels and thinks?
What decisions will they make as a result?
If she becomes a mum, how will it affect her parenting?
Will she treat her children in the same way as her dad treated her or try to overcompensate or protect her children from feeling undermined?

Often the words that come out of our mouths, are those very same words that we heard from our parents and vowed never to repeat.
Why, when we are parented in a certain way and we try and do the opposite, we end up doing the same?
I believe it is because we are parenting from pain and overcompensating.

What is the solution to this?
EFT of course – that would be my answer!

Revisiting your childhood memories and  releasing feelings of neglect, reprimand, unfair treatment with EFT is a powerful way to transform your parenting. You will start making new decisions and choices, have different feelings and having a stronger connection with your children. Usually this will need to be done with a practitioner unless you are confident with your tapping abilities and your childhood was not traumatic.
