Create Joyful Energy this Christmas.

This year, more than ever there is a sense of wanting to make Christmas special.

There is so much anxiety around without the added usual Christmas stress.

Below is a tapping script to release background stress and worry to pave the way for a joyful Christmas this year despite what is going on.

Here is a list of common Christmas stresses which the tapping script addresses:

1) Money

2) No time for yourself

3) Preparing festive food

4) Present buying

5) Putting on weight

6) Spending time with family (although this might not be possible this year which could add more stress, isolation or loneliness or be a relief!

7) And this year we have the added covid stress on top of everything else!

 

Here is a little exercise for you:

Rate the level of stress in relation to each of the above reasons on a scale from zero to ten. Zero means no stress, ten most stress.

There may be other reasons you can add to the list that relate more to your own situation. When stress levels are high it is harder to be present with your children and create a calm and relaxed space for your festivities.

In this article I am going to introduce a powerful technique that is easy to learn and apply to release stress so that you can regain your calm, get things done more efficiently and enjoy your family during this festive season.

This technique is called EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) or Tapping. It is based on the acupuncture system and involved tapping on acupoints while focusing on the stress.

In studies it has been shown to reduce cortisol (stress hormone) levels and here are links to the research that has been done so far:

From working with lots of stressed and overwhelmed mums, I know that you are probably thinking that you don’t have time for anything extra as you are already doing too much. Most mums find that even taking 5 minutes for themselves to tap can make a difference.

In fact when I challenged a few hundred mums to tap every day for 30 days the results were astounding. They reported some unexpected side effects including:-

  • Not needing a glass of wine or bar of chocolate at the end of the day
  • Not spending money on themselves to make them feel better because they felt so good
  • Husbands asking them what they have been doing because they seem so happy
  • Aches and pains disappearing
  • Feeling happy to get up in the morning again

So as an experiment, I invite you to set aside just 5 minutes from the 1440 minutes available to you today to have a go!

Tapping Script for the festive season

Side of hand: Even though I feel stress, overwhelmed and exhausted when I think about everything there is to do, I acknowledge how I feel right now Even though I feel anxious and worried about making it special for my family, I accept how I’m feeling Even though there is not enough time to get everything done and it feels like I can’t catch my breath, I take a deep breath in now

Top of head: Stressed about money

Eyebrow: Not enough time for myself

Side of eye: So much to do

Under eye: Worries about keeping everyone happy

Under nose: Anxious about affording the presents and food

Chin: I don’t want to put on any more weight

Collar bone: Covid stress

Under arm: Being with/ not being with family

Top of head: Family dynamics

Eyebrow: Feeling so overwhelmed

Side of eye: Noticing my feet on the ground

Under eye: Noticing my body

Under nose: Noticing my breath just as it is

Chin: <take a deep breath in>

Collar bone: Becoming more present

Under arm: I want to feel better than this

Top of head: I want to feel calmer

Eyebrow: I am open to the possibility of feeling a little bit calmer

Side of eye: And a little bit more relaxed

Under eye: So that I can focus more easily on the tasks in hand

Under nose: And be more present for my children and their needs

Chin: More calm, ease and relaxation

Collar bone: Breathing that into every cell of my body

Under arm: And sending calm, ease and peace into my festive season

Hands on chest: Deep breath
