EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) or Tapping is becoming more and more well-known having been popularised by Paul Mckenna. EFT is such a versatile tool that, as Gary Craig, founder of EFT says, try it on anything. So if you suffer from fear of spiders, addiction to chocolate, birth trauma, difficult childhood, aches and pains or you want to improve your tennis, public speaking, business success, figure or wealth, EFT can help! But how, you ask?…
1) Watch EFT Videos on Youtube
Many people stumble across EFT this way and although it is a great way to have an initial experience, EFT is a powerful tool and videos are simply the tip of the iceberg.
Videos are for you if:
- You have never done EFT before and know nothing about it
- You already know EFT and want a fun effortless boost of good feelings
- You want to feel easier about something in your life now without spending any money or going anywhere
- You want to increase your sense of wellbeing
- Don’t have the time or money to see a practitioner to get to the root of the issue
- You like doing little and often
- You don’t have the confidence to figure out your own personalised scripts
- You are too lazy to create your own scripts!
- You enjoy being guided by someone else
I love making tapping videos and you can find them on youtube or facebook. I also sometimes follow tapping videos when I am feeling lazy or want to be guided 🙂

Be aware though that watching videos does not get to the root of your issues and they may return at a later date.
2) Incorporate EFT into daily rhythm
In order to do this you need to already be familiar with EFT. So download a Free Manual, buy an book, attend a workshop or have a session with a practitioner. For mums, I have created a 30 day tapping programme in my book called Frazzled to Fabulous in 5 Minutes a Day for stressed, overwhelmed and exausted mums who want to regain their calm, enjoy their kids and get more done where they receive 5 minute tapping videos to support them release stress, exhaustion and overwhelm.
I suggest a round or 2 when you wake up in the morning, while still in bed, on whatever you are feeling in the moment or it could be on a dream you remember having or how you would like your day to unfold. Each round takes a minute or less!
Then I would suggest a round or 2 every time you visit the loo! If you are working on an ongoing issue you could tap on that eg ongoing anxiety, weight loss or asthma.
Lastly I would suggest a round or 2 when you go to bed last thing at night, perhaps on the intention of having a great night sleep and waking refreshed.
The benefits of working in this way are:
- It takes no extra time in your life
- Once it is part of your routine, its easy, quick and you don’t have to think about it
- Its Free (if you download the manual)!
- You are in control
- You choose your wording therefore you can get specific about your own situation which makes EFT work more effectively
- Good for people who are self-disciplined and like working by themselves
- You don’t have any time to work more deeply
- You like being independent and self reliant
This method is a drip feed way of using EFT so don’t expect sudden miraculous results. You will probably notice slowly how you respond to situations differently. If you like to see results and changes, it may help to keep a diary about the issue you are working on so that you can monitor how it changes over a period of time. This method is slow and gently and may or may not address the root of the issue.
But despite that, when mums tapped with my 5 minute videos every day for 30 days, they noticed miraculous results including:
- not needing that glass of wine or bar of chocolate at the end of the day
- finally waking up in the morning feeling ready for the day
- not spending money on themselves to make them feel better because they feel so good
- period pains and nausea disappearing
- husbands asking what they’ve been doing because they are so happy!

I like this method because I find it easy and effortless to incorporate into my life.
3) Fire Fighting
This is useful when emotions arise in the moment eg road rage, tears or anxiety. When the feeling is present, all one needs to do is tap without words until the feeling subsides. Tapping in this way will give you immediate relief from the negative feeling although with does not address the root but just releasing the feeling the moment so that normal life can resume. Obviously a good knowledge of EFT is required for this. If you are in a public place, touching and breathing on each point is more discrete as well as tapping on the finger points.
4) Do a session on yourself
As with the above, you need to already be familiar with EFT. So download a Free Manual, buy an book, attend a workshop or have a session with a practitioner.
This is for you if:
- You want to get to the root of the issue (note that some stubborn issues are difficult to work on by yourself and would require one-to-one with a practitioner)
- You can’t afford to work with a practitioner
- You are the type of person who likes to be independent and self-reliant
- You are disciplined and self-motivated
This is not my personal preferred option but I have several friends who work successfully in this way.

5) Attend a workshop
Attending a workshop is for you if you:
- want to get deep healing at the root cause
- learn what to do when it appears not to be working
- learn how to use the techniques well at a deep level
- learn how to use it with other people.
- want to become a practitioner
- like being in a group of like-minded people
- like learning from a person face-to-face as opposed to online
I would definitely recommend this. It is a fast way to heal yourself and learn a tool that you can use for the rest of your life. Once you have a attended an initial 1 day workshop (Level 1) you will be able to attend regular supervision sessions to deepen your knowledge and keep EFT techniques alive in your daily life. You will also be encouraged to connect with other people on the course who you may want to partner up with to swap sessions. So although there is an initial financial investment, you will benefit from knowledge from the course, the possibility of regular free swaps and a possible new career path.
Thank you very much for this beautiful journey and thank for your hospitality, it felt like being a family. Something big has definitely shifted and I feel I am in control of my life and I CAN SEE CLEARLY NOW :-). In both the level 1 & 2 workshops we all worked as a team. 6) Have a session with a practitioner
This is by far the fastest way to get deep healing at the root cause that is often permanent. Unlike conventional therapy, it is not something that goes on for months and years but is usually faster and simple issues can be relieved in a handful of sessions.

- Fast
- Thorough
- Deals with the root cause of issues
- Private
- Specific to you
- Working with an expert experienced in EFT
- Supported in your healing journey
I recommend this if you want to be supported and held in your healing journey whether it be a simple or complex issue or a goal that you are working towards. Some people prefer just to work with a practitioner while others work on their own and touch base with their practitioner when they get stuck.
